Apparently today is the four year anniversary of my blog. I don’t have anything exciting planned for today’s post though. I’ve officially gotten back into a basic running routine of running four days a week with a long run on the weekend. My weekday runs have been anywhere between 3-5 miles long and I am aiming to hit 20-25 miles a week right now. Starting in December I will add a 5th day back in.
I was back at the gym this Friday because we had those crazy winds a lot of the country was experiencing and I didn’t feel like battling them, but I didn’t really mind getting some miles in on the treadmill. Saturday morning I met up with Courtney for a casual 10 mile run. It was a chilly, but beautiful morning. The trail is fairly quiet this time of year which is kind of nice. Afterward we went out to brunch and I decided to order hot chocolate which ended up being a great choice.
My brother-in-law ran his first half marathon this weekend in Richmond and finished in 2:06! I was pretty excited and proud of him and got the impression from talking to him afterward that it won’t be his last.
Last night my husband & I had a special date night and headed downtown to see Ben Folds. I saw him last summer when he played with the symphony, but my husband had rehearsal that night and couldn’t go. Last night’s show was with the chamber group yMusic and it was awesome.
I drank a little too much beer at the concert and ended up spending the morning buried under blankets on the couch. After some water, ibuprofen, and a nap, my husband & I headed out to do a little shopping. He wanted to look at hiking shoes and I needed some hiking pants (which I got). Sports Authority was having an awesome sale and I ended up picking up a new pair of GT 2000’s. My older pair of GT is nearing the end of their running lives so I was more than happy to take advantage of the sale. I also snagged another pair of running tights.
Other than that, it’s been a pretty laid back weekend. Work has been really busy so it was nice to have some down time this weekend. We had some homemade pizza and salad for dinner tonight and devoured every bite.
I don’t think I can end this post without mentioning the horrific attacks in Paris. It’s shocking and sad and I can’t even image how terrible it was to be in Paris that night. It wasn’t lost on me at the concert Saturday night that hundreds of people were out doing the same the night before and how terrifying that situation must have been. It’s a great reminder of how we need to take advantage of the time we have and not lose focus on what’s important in our own lives.
I hope everyone has a great week!
